We are working closely with indexing databases to ensure that Tobacco Prevention and Cessation will be indexed retrospectively, from the first issue in appropriate databases.

To meet the indexing requirements, as with all new journals, Tobacco Prevention and Cessation needs to show, amongst others, continuous and steady manuscript publication, quality control mechanisms, a broad editorial board, international readership and submissions and a increasing number of high quality manuscripts in the production flow.

Currently, our journal has 4 strong pillars:
  • A webpage readership of over 20,000 views
  • More than 24,000 direct article downloads directly from our site
  • The majority of authors have been supported by significant funding mechanisms (US NIH, US NCI, US FDA, EU Commission, WHO)
  • We have a rejection rate of 56% in 2017

  • We are currently are indexed in:
  • DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) - Gold Seal recipient journal
  • CrossRef Metadata search
  • ScienceOpen
  • OCLC (
  • HEAL-LINK (Hellenic Academic Libraries Link)
  • PubMed Central- for US funded manuscripts only in compliance with public access policies (NLM ID: 101693412)
  • Hinari

  • We have applied to be indexed in:
  • Web Of Science - Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)
  • Scopus
  • Embase
  • Medline

  • We believe that we are on track to have this important journal in the field ready for indexing in major databases by Mid 2018, for retrospective indexing from its inaugural issue.

Thank you for your support in developing an international, and greatly needed, journal in the field. It is your grassroots support that makes the development of the journal possible.
